Let's face it, OUR LAWN'S A MESS.
The grass is long and the edges have all but merged into the flower beds. It's time to get things back in hand.
First up; cut the grass. As it's a tiny patch of green, we use a push mower. I sharpened it today, took 10 minutes and oiled it's moving parts - 2 squirts - one years maintenance completed!
Defining the lawn edges - these are so far gone that I'm re-cutting most of them. I trimmed around them first with the edging shears so that I had a better idea of the state of things.
For the best results, the lawn edger must be used VERTICALLY to the lawn.
I use a hoe to free the unwanted off cuts of turf from the flower beds. You need to avoid touching the new, vertical sides of your lawn edges. With a hoe, you can run along the soil level, horizontally. It's quick and very neat.
Try to get a high view, then go back down and DO IT AGAIN!
I had another go after this, but fading light and general knackeredness meant I couldn't make the stairs to get a final shot. Funny how it looks a bit like a WHALE!
Last job, cut back what's left of this NEW ZEALAND FLAX. Most people around here have lost theirs, although we're all living n hope that they may pick up as the sun shines. All I know is that it marred the look of the lawn. HAD TO GO.
