Spent most of the weekend in my and my neighbours' garden. Looking a proper mess now, me that is, not her garden.
We did get out for a bit as we had free tickets to the Westonbirt Antiques Fair Very smart do and lovely gardens. Faded elegance rules, both inside the building and out. I didn't take photos of the interior, but you can get the idea from the exterior shots.
Quite weird
Really Weird
Even weirder. The wood in lower picture is still alive.
The ornamental pond in the grounds was heaving with frogs. Often, they hitch a ride on the backs of the huge Carp as they swim past. If you have time, and nowt else to do, count up the Frogs in this small photo.
How can something so pretty have such a stupid name, Chionodoxa something or other.
hurch in the grounds, very English.
This tall tree was riddled with woodpecker holes, probably not the best sign.
The Camelia House has been restored. It's small and incredibly pretty with a few scrumptous plants in full bloom. The buds were the size of gobstoppers.
Faded glory, and yet, totally beautiful.
Idyllic rural view - kitch, I know.

WHEN WE GOT HOME, there was plenty of the day left and it was still dry. MIRACLE !!!
I decided to make the most of 'it', getting stuck right in.
Weeds out manure in for the afternoons fun. About a quarter of my garden is now pooed. Hmmmm nice.
Tuesday 29,3,10
Gerry and I went to the garden centre to buy some fruit trees.
I chose Commice Pear and Stella Cherry. A lovely gift from our neighbour Joyce.
Now they're in the ground and pruned, which means we have 10 fruit trees crammed, espalier style, into our tiny front garden. Espalier, that is, except we haven't wired them yet .....must get on with it soon. Wish it would stop raining on my free days. Not fair.

Headed up to the garden plot. Soil very sticky. Pushed the onions back underground. They spend all their time levering themselves out and onto the surface, where they whither and die if not reinstated. Gloves were caked in mud.
Peas and Broad Beans are up. Glass off the top, but left it around the edges to keep the roots warm. Slugs are a bit of a pain here already – damn.
SPOT THE NIBBLED LEAF
Hedging plants. I may shape up the seedling yews. Even though they're a pain in peoples flower beds, if given time and care, they will make handsome garden features.
These self seeded Christmas Roses are from 2 unusual parents. I'm hoping they wont all turn out dark red as so many often do in this family. White and/or pink is my wish, though I'll have to wait until next spring to find out..
